What we do

The IACB:

  • engages in collaborative ethics research,
  • organizes webinars and biennial international colloquia to share and discuss insights,
  • synthesizes and communicates consensus statements and other resources in bioethics that have been developed by associates and other experts, and
  • serves as an ethics resource and network for the Order of Malta and others engaged in Christian health care.

The IACB  approaches ethics research distinctly using an integrated inter-disciplinary and inter-functional method.

Participating in an IACB colloquium (view video) is a stimulating and convivial experience. Participants come prepared to exchange insights by engaging in small-group, open discussions. They draw on shared readings and presentations, as well as their expertise, experiences, research, and unique skills. We work together to synthesize these discussions and to communicate key points in a consensus statement that can be helpful for caregivers, providers of health care, and policy makers.

The IACB colloquia also offer opportunities for bioethicists and others to experience prayer in community and to enjoy mutual support, education, and friendship.
