What we do
The IACB:
- -promotes discussions on bioethical questions and collaborations among associates in service, education and research in bioethics,
- -organizes webinars and biennial international colloquia to foster community and share insights,
- -communicates statements and other resources in bioethics that have been developed from our colloquia.
The IACB approaches collaborations in bioethics using a trans-disciplinary and integrated functional specialties method.
Participating in an IACB colloquium (view video) is a stimulating and convivial experience. Participants come prepared to engage in small-group discussions. We draw on shared readings and presentations, as well as our specific backgrounds, expertise, experiences, and skills. We work together to synthesize these discussions and to communicate key points and practical recommendations in a consensus statement that we offer to caregivers, providers of health care, and policy makers.
The IACB colloquia also offer opportunities for participants to experience prayer in community and to enjoy mutual support, education, and friendship.
